native, already with the 56-yard receiving touchdown in the second quarter and a 108-yard kickoff return for a touchdown. ravens 28-6. then the power goes out at the superdome. the game delayed for 35 minutes. the players stretching to stay loose. colin kaepernick has to throw around in the dark. and when play resumes, the niners looked like a new team. fourth quarter, they're down just eight. kaepernick gets the outside and runs 15 yards for the score. two-point conversion no good. once down 22 points, san fran within two. less than two minutes to play, niners down 34-29 with fourth and goal. kaepernick looking for crabtree but incomplete. the ravens' d. holds on and baltimore wins 34-31. ravens are your super bowl xlvii champs and ray lewis wins a second super bowl. we now go live to see and hear

[ inaudible question ] >> you've seen those guys do it. they have the ability to score and score quickly. and that's kind of what they did there. you know, we got it 28-6 and they were able to go the length of the field and put a good drive together. then we kind of, you know, we didn't get anywhere and punted away and next thing you know we turn the ball over. so games can go like that. that's why you've got to take care of the football and get first downs. but we have a team that we're going to overcome it to the best of our ability. it's fitting that we won it like that today. >> joe flacco gets his first super bowl. ray lewis, his second in his final game. he rides off into the sunset with a story book ending. he joins some of the greats to get a title. we'll hear from number 52 coming

up in sports. >> for ravens' fans, a roller coaster ride tonight. but in the end, well, all of baltimore was able to take a collective sigh of relief. celebrations under way, fans crowding into the treats. news4's keith russ sell in tell middle of it in baltimore. >> reporter: home of the super bowl champions, the baltimore ravens. they dealt with the power outage, the 49ers coming back. they've dealt with adversity all season long and now they're on top of the football world. we were in 2 place to be, mother's grill and federal hill. and it was easy to see from the beginning of the night, everyone had the ravens on the brain. explain the getup. >> this is my ravens onesy. >> it's been a great season.

everyone can rant and rave, super bowl champions. back to you. >> so much excitement. it was affecting the camera. we mentioned it already, the other big story, the power outage at the superdome. darcy spencer has the latest on exactly what happened in new orleans. darcy? >> reporter: according to espn, police say too much electricity was being pumped into the superdome, causing a surge. in a statement just released, the distribution and transmission feeders were serving the superdome at all times and the company is continuing to work with stadium personnel to address any outstanding issues. a spokesperson for the superdome apologized but gave no further details. meanwhile, the nfl said in a statement, stadium authorities are investigating the cause and will have more information as it becomes available. some speculated beyonce's

electrifying halftime performance may have contributed to the power going out. a new twitter handle has already popped up, superdome lights, poking fun at the stadium going dark. darcy spencer, news4. >> a lot of people suggesting that beyonce might have knocked the lights out with her performance. she brought fire, ice, smoke to the halftime show at the superdome. and she sang some of her biggest hits including "crazy in love." the worst kept secret was the reunion of destiny's child. they jumped on the stage to perform some of the group's biggest hits. a lot of fun tonight in new orleans. back to reality now. let's go to meteorologist chuck bell with the first look at the monday forecast. it's become to work tomorrow. >> jim, you're a buzz kill.

monday is on the way, but yes, you're right. we have seen the continuation of light snow furries and snow showers across the d.c. metro area for much of the evening. not adding up to too much. temperatures just above the freezing mark, so not a lot of this tonight is sticking, unlike yesterday's snow, which had no trouble sticking. but that streaming of light snow showers coming to an end here over the next couple of hours. temperatures mid 30s around town. a little colder in northern and western maryland. so the snowflakes may have stuck just enough. there could be some slippery stops tomorrow morning. cold and dry at 7:00 a.m. temperatures below freezing. mid 30s tomorrow afternoon. at lunchtime, and light snow possible as early as sundown tomorrow and maybe an accumulation before tuesday. we'll talk about that with the seven-day, coming up. an effort to discourage drunk driving in our area tonight. police in montgomery and fairfax counties have extra dui patrols

in place through early tomorrow morning. a 41% increase in traffic deaths in the hours after super bowls airs compared to other sunday nights. super bowl sunday is one of the deadliest nights of the year. a former navy s.e.a.l. who wrote a book about his lethal marksmanship in texas was killed, found dead on saturday at a gun range outside of ft. worth. police arrested an iraq war veteran, charging him with murder. chris kyle detailed his time in the military in a book. >> every person i kid, i have a clear conscience of because they were trying to harm americans or allies. >> 25-year-old marine reservist and iraq war vet eddie ray roth has been charged with capital

murder. the suspect was apparently suffering from mental illness. a firefighter recovering in the hospital after he was injured fighting a fire. the flames broke out early this afternoon at this home on kingsfield lane. a neighbor called 911 after somebody knocked on his door to warm him the fire was spreading. >> someone knocked on the door, i don't know who it was. they seemed panic and said our neighbor christy's house was on fire. we ran out and saw that the left portion of the house was engulfed. >> the firefighter is expected to be okay. no word on the cause. former washington public schools chancellor michelle rhee has a new book coming out tomorrow. she was asked about her controversial tenure here in the district. >> what i did learn about my experiences in d.c. is that what we were doing i think were absolutely the right things. i needed to focus a little bit

more on how we were communicating those things and doing things. so should i have fired in effective principals? absolutely. should i have done so on national tv? probably not. >> in her first year on the job in d.c., she closed 23 schools, fired 36 principals. she resigned in 2010 after the mayor was defeated by vincent gray in the democratic primary. after she left, there was an investigation over cheating on test scores. her new book is titled "radical." well, for some people, they're more important than the game. we're talking about super bowl commercials and we're going to run down some of the most talked about ads on social media tonight. plus, looking ahead to next year, leaders in new orleans passed the torch to the hosts of super bowl xlviii. an emotional beginning to

oh, yeah, it's just a quiet sunday night in baltimore. a couple people out walking the dog. that's all that's going on in the inner harbor there. what a great celebration. congratulations, ravens' fans. i will not claim to be the biggest ravens fans in the world, but who is your buddy? who told you the winning score for the game today? your buddy, me. oh, it was you. my prediction for the score and it's on record, 34-24, baltimore. sure, i didn't get the losing score right, i got the winning score right. cloudy skies, winds have picked up out of the northwest at 13 miles per hour. it will be a wind-child morning at the bus stop on your way to work. so get ready for the winter coats, for sure. temperatures around town, 34 in the city. 30 in rockville. 31 at dulles and reston town center. 30 in manassas.

34 in annapolis. a little colder up across northern and western maryland. could see a little patch or two of ice first thing in the morning. so be extra careful if you're on your way out. just passing light snow showers and snow flurries. this is all it is. it's not going to add up with temperatures around town just above the freezing mark. but don't be surprised to see a little snowflake or two. the next clipper going through northwestern chicago right now. lit be arriving about this time tomorrow. snow showers for the next couple of hours. we'll have a little sunshine early on your monday morning. clouds come back quickly and a chance for light snow around here, late monday night into the predawn hours of tuesday. so be ready for another chance for up to an inch of snow. tomorrow, a dry commute to work and school. no problems at lunchtime.

no problems coming home from work tomorrow either. the problems are tomorrow night into tuesday morning with this clipper. so 5:00 tomorrow to 9:00 tomorrow, snow arriving in from the west. from 9:00 to about 2:00 in the morning, that's the best time to see the snow, maybe as much as an inch. and 2:00 to 6:00 in the morning some slick spots. half an inch to maybe an inch and a half towards frederick, maryland. here's the seven-day forecast. our next chance sundown tomorrow. temperatures above freezing and it will be light precipitation. and then a quiet stretch. temperatures nearing 50 degrees on friday, meaning that that little system that comes on by will be bringing raindrops, not snowflakes. and next weekend, looks like a dry, quiet weekend. >> so you're not just good at

zone. what a touchdown! baltimore up at the half. jones back to receive, opening kickoff of the second half. he returns it 108 yards for the score, ties the longest kickoff return in nfl history. ravens cruising, up 28-6. so you think it's a blowout, right? just over a minute later, the power just goes out at the superdome. it was a crazy scene. the game delayed for 35 minutes. after that, the power turned on for the niners. colin kaepernick runs for the 15-yard score. niners down 31-29. 1:50 to play, fourth and goal needed. but kaepernick overthrows michael crabtree and baltimore wins it 34-31, the final score. john gets the best of jim, and ray lewis wins a second super

bowl in his final game. dan hellie joins us now from new orleans with more. it wasn't the big easy, but the ravens come out on top. >> reporter: it went from a blowout, then a power outage to one heck of a ball game. this is the best super bowl we've seen in a long time. you can put it up there with some of the great ones. the power outage, very strange. everybody sitting here for 35 minutes wondering what was going on and the slights slowly came back on. for some reason, that slay allowed the san francisco 49ers to get back in the ball game. but the ravens staved them off, big winners in the super bowl here. we caught up with a couple of guys, including torrey smith on the field after the game. is this like you envisioned it, man? >> all that and more, man. we did it, we felt like we deserved it. we earned it. we made it to our destination and won. >> you can't never count us out. can't never count us out. they told me i was out for the
